Google’s Smart Updates Are Up And Running

When earlier this year Google announced at its I/O developer conference they will turn on delta updates for Android 2.3 and higher devices, not many people were aware about it and not that many geeks knew when it would happen. The update is live starting last night or this morning.

If you still don’t get what I am talking about, then I have to say with these smart updates users will have to download only those parts of an update that have been changed. So users won’t have to download the complete updated app or game. For example, the update of the popular ezPDF Reader usually is 6.3MB in size, but now it is under 3MB, or the update of Instagram was 13MB, though after those smart updates it weighs only 3MB.

As you see these smart updates would only be about a third of the size of a full update, which is the best solution to save users bandwidth and to extend battery life.

Samsung Galaxy S III Found Running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

We are very well informed about Android 4.1 Jelly Bean but we have yet not seen it on a real device. Now we are given such an opportunity as a Samsung Galaxy S III has been spotted in Mexico with this unreleased Android version.

As you know Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich made devices run faster and provided smoother performance. Now imagine yourself what speed Android Jelly Bean will bring to them. Besides the smoother performance, it also brings such features as Google Now is, and for especially the Samsung Galaxy S III it comes with TouchWiz customizations that include the redesigned notification area.

Unfortunately, we don’t know whether users from other countries have got such an update, or this is something like a soak test but we can say for sure the US variant launched via Verizon still runs its ordinary Android 4.0 ICS.

Check out the video below, and let us know whether you are eagerly waiting for this version of Android, or you simply didn’t notice anything worthy.
