Gaikai, NVIDIA and Android to Become Kings in Cloud Gaming

Cloud gaming on Android is the future. I came to this conclusion after I learned about NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang’s statement at the GPU Technology Conference. He said their new Kepler chip is the first GPU in the world for cloud computing. Moreover, it will power Gaikai‘s multi-platform gaming service.

These games can be played via any browser because Gaikai’s open cloud gaming platform is optimized especially for high-end video games and apps within seconds to all leading web browsers, operating systems and devices. The app is already available on Facebook and will be available on Android devices in the second half of this year.

On the whole, we have already seen some games on cloud gaming platforms but they didn’t work well because of lags, therefore developers simply stopped creating apps and games for these platforms. Now there mustn’t be a problem because the lags are “eliminated” with the help of NVIDIA.

NVIDIA’s Kepler chip is made in a way as to allow virtualized GPUs to power thousands of low-latency remote displays. There are a myriad of such servers located in every corner of the globe, thus, developers are ready to offer the lowest latency, highest quality experiences possible.

To demonstrate the technology Gaikai showed a new game called Hawken that was running on the Asus Transformer Prime.
