Google Maps for Android Gets New 3D Buildings
In the end of the last year the new Google Maps 5.0 were released for Android and made a real revolution in the world of mobile maps by giving the users the opportunity to rotate and zoom in/out the 3D maps. Some time ago you could have a look at the 3D buildings in New York, Zurich, Milan and many other cities, and now Google has added 18 more cities, including London, Paris, Barcelona, Stockholm, Lisbon, Singapore, Boulder and 11 major cities in South Africa.
You don’t need to update your Google Maps for Android app to get access to the new 3D cities. The 3D view will appear when you just browse one of these 18 cities on your Android smartphone (the OS version must be at least 2.0).
Less than a couple of months ago Google added another interesting feature to its Maps — the Live Transit that is available in six cities (Boston, Portland (Oregon), San Diego, San Francisco, Madrid and Turin) and informs you about the public transport in those areas.
It seems like Google Maps is in the center of Google’s attention, so let’s hope more and more goodies and useful updates will come soon.
