A leaked photo of HTC Click, an entry-level Android phone

Tags: , , , , , , , ,

Just a little while ago, we had heard of a low-priced Android device, named HTC Click. We did not even know if it really would be an Android device. And, today guys at BGR have come up with a picture which is supposed to be that of HTC Click.

It looks like any normal touchscreen device, with plain looks. But, it is supposed to be an inexpensive phone. So, what could be the possible price of the device, around 100$ ? Possible!!

There are no details available about the device. But, we just hope it appeals to the masses, as I am sure Google aims at capturing a large part of the cell-phone market, with a device for the common man.

Tags: , , , , ,

A danish phone website has come up with the details of Sony Ericsson handset, which appears to be an Android phone. The rumored Android phone from SE is codenamed “Rachael”, which is powered by the mighty Qualcomm Snapdragon processor that runs at a mind-boggling clock speed of 1GHz. Other than that, it comes with a 8MP camera and HSPA.

It appears to be a very thin handset, but thankfully, Sony Ericsson has equipped it with a 3.5mm headphone jack, which should allow you to plug-in your favorite earphones/headphones.

Android to explore Asia : Far Eastone to offer Android devices in Taipei

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

As per a report by Taipei Times, Far Eastone, the  nation’s third biggest telecom operator is planning to launch not one, but two or three Android devices by the year end. “We are in talks with more than five potential partners, in Taiwan and abroad, to sell Android phones,” Roger Chen, a vice president at Far EasTone, said at a press conference.

This could prove to be a very big boost for Google as Telecom industry is one of the biggest and one of the fastest growing industries in Asia. Also, as Android is an open-source Operating System, it reduces the prices of the devices. So, this could be a really big advantage for Android in the Asian market.

Dell to release an Android phone!

Dell may be busy working on releasing a phone based on the mighty Android platform.

Although the photo is very blurry, we have heard similar rumors earlier too. A couple of years back, Dell used to make Windows Mobile devices, but none of them had the phone feature. When they were leaving the Windows Mobile market, Dell hinted that they would make a return to the mobile market, but with a connected device. This new rumor has created a lot of buzz as it may be the sign of Dell’s entry to the Smartphone market.

We are pretty sure that Dell can use its marketing to give Apple and Palm some real tough competition. Let’s hope to see a clearer picture of Dell’s upcoming smartphone soon

Use your Android as a Metal Detector

Tags: , , , , , , , ,

If I tell you that you can now use your Android powered device as a metal detector, would you believe me ? I guess, your answer is a big “NO”. But what if I give u a proof ?

Yes, what you just read is true. There is an application known as “Metal Detector” that actually turns your Android phone into a metal detector. Here’s a video showing the application in running mode :

We are not sure about how the device detects any metal that is placed before it. But I guess, it uses the compass to detect any metal that comes its way.

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

HTC Magic has been officially launched in Spain, by Vodafone. It came as a surprise package, as its been released almost a week prior to the possible date of its release, 5th May. The phone is available in online stores of the carrier. But, will be available in the retail stores starting next week. The price starts from 19 pounds.

Magic comes with a 3.2″ HVGA (320*480 pixels) capacitive touchscreen display, Bluetooth 2.0, GPS, HSPA and WIFI b/g. It also sports a 3.2 MP camera. It has 512 MB internal memory.

Just like the dream, it comes with the Google suite of applications, like Gmail, internet browser, Android Market, Gtalk, Youtube, etc.

The icing on the cake is, I feel, the 512 MB ROM. Also, it does not have a keyboard. So, this makes the device comparatively lighter.
