Google Activates 700.000 Devices Daily

Though Google’s closest partners don’t feel that good at the moment because of patent lawsuits and decreased sales numbers, it doesn’t prevent Google from ensuring record daily activations. Google’s Andy Rubin said they are activating 700.000 Android devices daily and it’s not a limit.

At the end of June, the tech giant announced there are 500.000 daily activations. But a month later this number was changed to 550.000. Moreover, the company’s official announcement claimed they reached 100 million activations worldwide. However, this record was broken in November, when the same Mr. Rubin confirmed the news there were 200 million activated devices in the whole world.

This means Google shows an unprecedented growth rate and has doubled this indicator during six months. The simplest calculations show Google will reach 250 million activation very soon. This was even confirmed by Rubin who posted on his Google+ account.

Honestly I have no idea how many devices in the world run other operating systems, but taking into account how “young” Android is, these numbers are just shocking.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X3 to ship-in with Android Eclair or Flan?

Some time back, we had reported that Sony Ericsson is working on Xperia X3, an Android powered device, which will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor that runs at a mind-boggling clock speed of 1GHz. Now, Andy Rubin of Google Inc. has reported in an interview that Google plans to take advantage of processors like the Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm Inc. to support features like 3D gaming in the later versions of Android.

The Android versions which are currently in the news circuit is Donut (Android 1.6) , Eclair (Android 2.0) and Flan (the third version). We have already heard a lot about Donut and it does not seem to include any such features. So probably, this will be available with Eclair or Flan.

But currently, the only Android-powered device which claims to sport a Snapdragon Chipset is the Sony Ericsson Xperia X3. So, this lets me wonder, will it come with Android Eclair or Flan? Possible.

This speculation seems to be quite tricky. But, it is possible. And, if this speculation fruitifies, then the equation would be :

A huge brand + great features + amazing OS + lightning speed = a mind blowing device called Sony Ericsson Xperia X3

Forget Android Donut or Android Eclair: Time to talk about Android version 4 – Special focus on Business features and 3D-Gaming!

Surprised? Don’t be. Because, Andy Rubin, vice president of engineering at Google told in an interview that Google has already started working on the fourth version of Android.

There are no details about the version, but it is for sure that future versions of the Android OS will have special focus on enterprise customers. In a recent news  post, we had reported that Google is planning to include functionalities like that of Blackberry, which targets the businesses, in its later version. In addition to enterprise features, Google also plans to bring 3D gaming to its mobile phones by making use of powerful mobile CPUs like the one from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon that runs at 1GHz clock speed.

Right now, Blackberries are still considered as the best and most productive (mobile) business tool.

“Today, we don’t support many enterprise applications but in the future, I think enterprise will be a good focus for us,” Rubin, vice president of engineering at Google

Google although already offers an array of its services like Google Mail, Google Calenders and Google Docs on its Android phones, but they are not enough for making its name in enterpirses.

Android Eclair or Flan to support 3D gaming

Recently in an interview, vice president of engineering at Google, Andy Rubin reported that devices that ship-in with the later versions of Android will support advanced features like 3D gaming, as they will sport the most advanced processors in the market.

And, he mentioned the name of Snapdragon chip from Qualcomm Inc and said that this would provide Android devices of the future the same speed as that of desktop computers of four years ago.

When we talk of “later versions of Android”, the only versions we know, as of now, are Android Eclair and Flan. Does that mean devices with these (or one of these) versions will come loaded with the mighty Snapdragon Chipset?

If this news is to be believed, then Android devices will blow away the PSPs and Nintendos in the market. Also, the OS would be one of the fastest running OS in the mobile phone arena.

The OS version pipeline of Android seems to be really massive, with great developments with every update. The version with support for such advanced features, would definitely give cut-throat competition to any other OS in the market, however old and established it be.

So all you Android fanatics, get ready for some speed!

Android vying to target businesses

According to a senior executive, Google plans to include features that would help businesses who give phones to their employees, to work on-the-go. In an interview, Andy Rubin, vice president of engineering at Google said, “Today, we don’t support many enterprise applications but in the future, I think enterprise will be a good focus for us”.

Currently, the king of this market is Rim’s BlackBerry. But according to Rubin, Google can easily compete with the company, with the help of its Google apps like email, documents and calendars.

Rubin further added that he is aiming for integrating social services deep into the operating system. According to him, phone communication should function with people being the pivot point, instead of photos, contacts and birthdays of a single person being stored at different files and folders.

After Windows Mobile and Apple, Google is planing to give a touch time to Balckberry, which mainly focuses business customers. So Android users, who want business functionalities at rates far less than Blackberry, gear up for your dream machines.
