Sony Ericsson Xperia X3 to ship-in with Android Eclair or Flan?

Some time back, we had reported that Sony Ericsson is working on Xperia X3, an Android powered device, which will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor that runs at a mind-boggling clock speed of 1GHz. Now, Andy Rubin of Google Inc. has reported in an interview that Google plans to take advantage of processors like the Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm Inc. to support features like 3D gaming in the later versions of Android.

The Android versions which are currently in the news circuit is Donut (Android 1.6) , Eclair (Android 2.0) and Flan (the third version). We have already heard a lot about Donut and it does not seem to include any such features. So probably, this will be available with Eclair or Flan.

But currently, the only Android-powered device which claims to sport a Snapdragon Chipset is the Sony Ericsson Xperia X3. So, this lets me wonder, will it come with Android Eclair or Flan? Possible.

This speculation seems to be quite tricky. But, it is possible. And, if this speculation fruitifies, then the equation would be :

A huge brand + great features + amazing OS + lightning speed = a mind blowing device called Sony Ericsson Xperia X3

Forget Android Donut or Android Eclair: Time to talk about Android version 4 – Special focus on Business features and 3D-Gaming!

Surprised? Don’t be. Because, Andy Rubin, vice president of engineering at Google told in an interview that Google has already started working on the fourth version of Android.

There are no details about the version, but it is for sure that future versions of the Android OS will have special focus on enterprise customers. In a recent news  post, we had reported that Google is planning to include functionalities like that of Blackberry, which targets the businesses, in its later version. In addition to enterprise features, Google also plans to bring 3D gaming to its mobile phones by making use of powerful mobile CPUs like the one from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon that runs at 1GHz clock speed.

Right now, Blackberries are still considered as the best and most productive (mobile) business tool.

“Today, we don’t support many enterprise applications but in the future, I think enterprise will be a good focus for us,” Rubin, vice president of engineering at Google

Google although already offers an array of its services like Google Mail, Google Calenders and Google Docs on its Android phones, but they are not enough for making its name in enterpirses.

According to AndroidCommunity, Android Donut has been released to developers and it is also known as Android 2.0. But, guys at modogadget say, it is not actually Android 2.0 and will not have multi-touch support or CDMA compatibility.

But, according to a screenshot posted on Android Central, the OS version released to the developers is codenamed Donut, and has CDMA compatibility. Have a look :

What does all this mean ? Are Android 2.o and Donut really different ? Have both the versions been released to the developers ? We had once reported that there would be two updates to Android this year, one minor and one major. So, are Android Donut and Android 2.0 going to be two different updates ? All these questions remain unanswered as of now. All we can do, is wait and watch till the original versions are released to the public.
