Google Map 6.0 Beta Available

Google continues to surprise in a good sense its customers with its innovations and solutions. We certainly have heard about Google Map 5.0 app for Android. The latter received up to 12 upgrades and it was obvious a new version is necessary. And here it is — a new Google Map 6.0, which contains not only traditional maps, but also indoor maps. To say Google was the first to do this would not be just, since Nokia also has come forward with the idea.

So if you ever wonder how to go from one sector of your favorite mall to the other, there is no need to strain your neck for discovering the wall signs and frantically looking through the map book. But to use Google Maps 6.0 you have to be either in the US or in Japan.

This is the Beta version of the application, and it is clear Google has firstly focused on malls and airports, for these venues can really be a nuisance from a point of good orientation. Among the locations are Mall of America, IKEA, The Home Depot, select Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s, Daimaru, Taskashimaya and Mitsukoshi locations, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), Chicago O’Hare (ORD), San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Narita International (NRT). This list will grow certainly and one day can even include your house too: you never know.

Android Apps to Run on Nokia N9

The Nokia N9 was introduced by the Finnish company only a few days ago, but it’s already very popular – everyone seems to be discussing it now. It has a powerful processor and GPU, an 8MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics and super wide 28mm lens, a 3.9-inch AMOLED touchscreen and many other great features, and its only minus seems to be the OS – MeeGo. It’s much better than Symbian, of course, but it’s new, and it has only a few apps, unlike Android.

So will a device with no cool apps manage to become really successful? We don’t think so… But Myriad Group said the “app problem” of the Nokia N9 can be solved in the nearest future by… making the apps designed for Android run on it! The French-Swiss company promised to adapt their Java virtual machine (which helps Android apps run on other platforms) for Nokia’s new N9, and for the Nokia N950, too. Moreover, the performance of the applications will not become worse on MeeGo.

The idea seems to be very good, since Android is known for a huge number of good applications, and if they appear on Nokia’s new device, but Nokia and Android will benefit from it.

We don’t know yet when this new feature will be released by Myriad Group, we don’t even know the Nokia N9’s exact release date… So let’s have a look at this video by the French-Swiss company while we are waiting.

Android to shake hands with Adobe ?

We all have been using Flash in our PCs since a very long time. Now, how about using the same Flash in your mobile phone ? It is possible now, provided you own a Android powered phone or Palm pre or Nokia smartphone.

Adobe is working on reengineering its softwares, so that the Flash games and videos can run on the smartphones without being modified. “Smart phones are where the game is now,” Kevin Lynch, Adobe’s chief technology officer said, “Our chips are on the table. We’ve made our bets.”

Trial version of the software will be available for Android, Nokia and Palm by the year end. But, why has Adobe not considered to release the software for Windows Mobile smartphones and Apple iPhone ?
