Kinpo’s Android Tablet PC in the making : also includes a sample video

Kinpo is in the process of making a 7-inch Tablet PC, powered with, surprisingly, Android OS. The video clearly demonstrates, how beautifully Android can be ported into netbooks and Tablet PCs.

If the real product really comes out to be as good as our expectations, Android OS would very well be able to blow out every other netbook OS in the market (read it as Windows).

One more Android powered phone doing the rounds : Motorola Heron or the Iron Man

Seems like, by the end of this year, atleast half a dozen companies will have their Android devices flocking the market. AT&T is probably, planning to launch an Android device, the Motorola Heron aka the Iron Man.

The device is expected to come with a 2.8-inch screen, a 3MP camera with flash, aGPS and 3G. The release date is speculated to be 2nd of November, this year. But, this may change as this date was announced when this phone was supposed to be a Windows Mobile device. But, since the Operating System has been revised, some features as well as the release date might also change.

How to future proof your Android applications?

Here are 5 points to remember if you are an Android developer and want to make sure that you do not get into problems when the Android v1.5 is released:

  • Don’t use internal API’s
  • Don’t directly manipulate settings
  • Don’t go overboard with layouts
  • Don’t assume all hardware (i.e. physical keyboard) will be available
  • Make sure you allow “graceful” re-orientations of the screen

Yes, that’s it! Just make sure to follow the aforementioned tips and stay trouble free
