Android MegaPad Sounds Cool

Android tablets are very competitive nowadays, and they even can compete with the iPad 2. This is not a secret for anyone, but have you ever though what will happen if tablets sport larger screens? I mean if their screens were larger than 7 or even 10-inch. Honestly, I’ve never thought about it, as a tablet is a portable device, so it must be slim, light and small in size, but it must sport high-class features and an appropriate display to satisfy our needs. Anyway, there is an enthusiast who has made an Android tablet — oops — a MegaPad. the details are after the jump.

Martin Drashkov has made an Android-powered tablet sporting a 23-inch touchscreen and called it the Android MegaPad. Though it can’t be called perfect, this device looks quite amazing and I’ll not mind trying it out. Honestly, I do not think such devices will be popular, leastwise they can’t replace the current tablets, but I guess they have a number of advantages, too.

Anyway, this device is not something official, moreover, the author has made it in his kitchen, but watch the video and let us know what you think about this Android MegaPad.

Huawei MediaPad – First Android 3.2 Tablet

2011 was a really tablet-rich year, do you think so? :) So many great tablets were announced and released this year (like the Motorola Xoom, the HTC Flyer or the Samsung Galaxy Tab, most of them running different versions of Android), and many of them are yet expected to be released. Seems like each manufacturer is trying to create something new, and Huawei was no exception.

Huawei is going to release a new 7-inch tab called the Huawei MediaPad and running Android 3.2 – the new version of Google’s OS!

What’s this Android 3.2 and why haven’t we heard anything about it till now? Huawei said this new version of Android is designed to work on small 7-inch tablets.

The Huawei MediaPad will most likely be equipped with a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, and the pixel density will be rather high – 217ppi (with 1024 x 600 resolution), so its display is even cooler than the Motorola Xoom’s (160ppi) or Allle iPad 2’s (132ppi) one.

As for the other features of the Huawei MediaPad, they will include a 5MP rear-facing camera and a 1.3MP front-facing one designed for video calling or making self portraits. Support for 1080p over HDMI output, HSPA 3G at 14.4Mb/s, Bluetooth 2.1, and 802.11n WiFi are also included.

The device will be released this fall, but there is no information about its price yet.
