Google+ for Android Getting Update

I bet most of Android users are already using the Google+ application. This awesome feature gives a great chance to promote websites by liking the content. Thanks to this feature websites appear in Google’s top pages, thus making the Google search more user-centralized.

Those who liked the feature but still have a feeling that there’s something missing in it should check Android Market for the update.

The 1.0.6 version now allows the customers to re-share the posts that were made by the others. This means that you can have a look at what your friends have shared, choose what you want and repost it. This is the basic feature that was missing so far.

The update also includes a list of other enhancements for Google+ (support for additional languages, more reliable notification system and better configuration settings for those who are on their way to get the application on their Android devices). And finally we have a list of bugs that got finally fixed with the help of the update leading to a better app stability.

You can get the update here.

Say Hello to New Android Market 3.0.27!

A few weeks ago a new Android Market (version 3.0.26) with updated movie and book rentals and a number of other improvements was leaked. The user interface in the leaked version was also different, as if it was designed for Honeycomb or even for the upcoming Ice-Cream Sandwich.

That time we couldn’t find anyone who actually received that update, but now the next (3.0.27) version of Android Market is being rolled out, and at least the guys from Android Community have already upgraded the Android Market on their devices running Android 2.2. Here’s what they write:

“I manually installed the original leak on another phone and it was almost instantly upgraded without notice or user action to 3.0.27 so this is most likely the official version.”

The update isn’t being rolled out as fast as we would like it to, but if you don’t want to wait any longer, you can install in manually. Don’t hesitate to follow this link to download it!

Android Market Gets Update With App Rating Functionality

Google has updated its Android Market bringing it to a new level. The update refers to the web-based version of Android Market — now it shows apps ratings that form from other users’ scores. It looks like Amazon’s rating graphs, and when users give scores to an app, it calculates the average data and shows it in numerical view. You can also see how exactly the users have rated the app.

This is one more step to become more competitive — it will certainly help Google not to fall down in the battle against Apple’s App Store and Amazon’s new Android AppStore. Earlier users could only see how many total reviews an app had received and what its average rating was. Now when everything became transparent, it can help Android Market to become more popular.

Generally, Android Market is more comfortable for simple users and developers than any other similar marketplace, but I have a concern that it can hurt Google — because of the lack of control the number of bad-quality or even virus-infected apps on the Market can become even bigger.

Unfortunately, here are some shortcomings — the new system doesn’t offer to filter reviews by application version. Anyway, this update is welcomed by users and we are all waiting for it to arrive on the smartphones’ Market soon.

Honeycomb 3.1 update for Motorola Xoom Pushed Out

Yesterday Motorola announced that the Honeycomb 3.1 update for the Xoom is being pushed out statewide. This is great news for those who were depressed because only Verizon’s subscribers were enjoying the goodies coming with this update. Now all of the owners of the tablet in the U.S. can download the update and “level up” their devices.

This information is official, it comes from Motorola’s European Facebook page. According to it, the Honeycomb 3.1 update will become available for the European users in a few weeks, and it will be available in each region. Can this mean its functionality will be different from region to region?

Along with many improvements, the update changelog includes such enhancements as enabling the XOOM’s microSD card slot, resizing certain widgets, adding scrollable muti-tasking list, and much more. The bad news is that the update still doesn’t enable the 4G LTE support functionality.

I guess in the nearest future the Motorola Xoom will get another update, because this device is very popular and successfully competes with the iPad 2, so Google wouldn’t lose the chance to satisfy all those users who preferred Android instead of iOS.

Google Maps for Android Gets Updated

Google’s mobile operating system is currently the most popular one in the world, and this makes the company work harder not to lose its reputation. Sp all apps for Android are being updated to satisfy even the most capricious users’ taste. Now it’s Google Maps’ turn, and all you can download it from Android Market now.

Google Maps 5.0 is available with three main changes, they refer to:

  1. Check in and check out directly from Place pages.
  2. Change your Latitude work and home addresses.
  3. See the redesigned transit station pages.

After this upgrade you’ll be able to give a rating directly from the Place page. This is very useful if you use the Location History that allows you to see where you have been and how much time you have spent there. So with this feature you’ll be able to withdraw some interesting statistics for you. So the Latitude feature will be a good tool in tracking your daily activity to find out where you have spent more time — at home or working. And even if the addresses are changed rapidly, you can enter new addresses right from inside the Latitude. Finally, the third update refers to the transit station pages that will help you to plan your trip easier, because “a list of upcoming scheduled departures for different lines, all the transit lines serving the station, and links to nearby transit stations.”

Probably they will be some hidden features, so it’ll be very kind to hear your thoughts if you have already downloaded it and tried it out.

Cheap phones not always come with such great features but if you search through the www.dialaphone.co.uk you’ll find best meeting your needs.
