Jon von Tetzchner, Opera’s CEO told to PCmag.com, that his company is working on a version of Opera Mobile which will run on the Android platform. Opera Mobile is already available for the Symbian and the Windows Mobile platforms. Now, it remains to be seen, how well it would be accepted in the Android world, as Android powered devices already ship-in with Web-kit based browser, which is considered to provide one of the best browsing experiences. Also, Opera mini is already available for Android.

So all the Opera fans, its time for you to make merry. Your favourite web browser will now run full-fledge on your favourite OS, Android.

iriver planning to give Apple a tough time : working on an iPod Touch like device running on Android

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

iriver is working on iriver K2, a Portable Media Player, which would probably sport a 3.5-inch touchscreen, WiFi, Bluetooth, an accelerometer and integrated digital TV tuner, and is believed to be a close competitor to Apple’s iPod Touch. It may also sport a web browser, and Android market (like App Store in iPod Touch) for third party softwares.

But, only time will tell, if it will really materialize. The reason being, this beautiful dish is far from any kind of approval as of now.

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Ginii is all set to launch the very first Andriod powered Portable Media Player, named Movit Mini, some time in October this year.

The Movit Mini would probably come with a 4.3-inch touchscreen display with 480 x 272 resolution, 256MB of T-Flash memory, a webcam, built-in microphone, MP3/MP4 player, web browser, Skype VoIP service, Android OS, mini USB 2.0 port, WiFi and Bluetooth radios (optional). The price has not been announced.

Its surprising to see the varied areas of technology, that are trying to use, or should I say, “curb” the potentials of Android OS.
